Christmas Movement Games for Kids
These Christmas movement games are perfect for getting kids up, moving, and burning off some energy when they’re stuck inside on a cold winter day.
1. Reindeer Freeze Dance
Put on your favorite Christmas music and have everyone dance like a reindeer! When the music stops, everyone has to freeze in place. Anyone who moves is out for that round or has to do a silly reindeer dance before joining again.
2. Santa Says
Play a Christmas version of Simon Says! One person is Santa and gives everyone silly instructions. Santa might say, “Hop like a reindeer,” “Pretend you’re sliding down a chimney,” or “Wiggle your nose like Rudolph.” Remember, only follow the instructions that start with “Santa says!”
3. Elf Training Academy
One person becomes the head elf and calls out a sequence of three silly actions. Everyone else has to perform them in the exact order they were given.
For example: “Jump three times, touch your toes, and lay down!”
If you forget an action or do them out of order, you lose the round. Keep adding trickier combinations as the game goes on!
4. Christmas Character Charades
Take turns acting out Christmas characters, activities, and objects while everyone else tries to guess what you are. Pretend to be Santa, a snowman, a reindeer, an elf, or even someone decorating a Christmas tree. No talking allowed!
5. Reindeer Tag
One person is the reindeer catcher, and everyone else is a reindeer trying to escape! If the catcher tags you, you have to freeze in place with your hands above your head like antlers. Another reindeer can unfreeze you by gently tapping your shoulder. Switch catchers every round.
6. The Floor Is Lava: North Pole Edition
Pretend the floor has turned into hot lava or melting snow! Kids have to get from one side of the room to the other without touching the floor. They can use safe furniture or cushions as stepping spots. See who can make it across without falling into the lava!
7. Santa’s Silly Workout
Take turns making up ridiculous Christmas exercises that everyone has to copy. Try candy cane stretches, elf jumps, reindeer squats, snowflake spins, and Santa belly laughs. See who can come up with the silliest workout routine!
8. Sneaky Santa
One person is Santa and stands facing a wall with their eyes closed. Everyone else starts across the room and tries to sneak up and gently tap Santa’s shoulder. Santa can turn around at any moment! If Santa catches someone moving, that player has to go back to the starting line.
9. Christmas Follow the Leader
Take turns being the Christmas leader! Everyone follows the leader around the room while copying their movements. Walk like a penguin, fly like a reindeer, wobble like a snowman, or tiptoe like an elf sneaking around the North Pole.
10. Snowstorm Freeze Challenge
Everyone pretends they’re outside in a giant snowstorm. One person calls out different weather conditions, and everyone has to perform the matching action.
- “The wind is blowing!” – Lean sideways.
- “Snow is falling!” – Wiggle your fingers down.
- “A blizzard is coming!” – Crouch down.
- “The sun is out!” – Stand up and stretch.
Anyone who does the wrong action is out for that round!

12. Christmas Would You Rather?
Take turns asking ridiculous Christmas-themed questions. Would you rather have a reindeer for a pet or live at the North Pole? Would you rather eat only candy canes or gingerbread for a week? Everyone has to choose an answer and explain why!

16. Christmas Telephone

24. Christmas Category Race
Choose a Christmas category, such as Christmas movies, holiday foods, or things found at the North Pole. Take turns asking Christmas trivia questions. Ask about Christmas traditions, songs, movies, Santa’s reindeer, and holiday history. Keep score to see who knows the most about Christmas!
All-Day Christmas Games and Challenges
These games are especially fun for babysitters, siblings, and cousins because they don’t have to end after one round! Start a challenge in the morning and see who can keep it going the longest.
31. The Don’t Say Christmas Challenge
The challenge is to go the entire day without saying the word “Christmas”! Everyone can talk about the holiday, presents, Santa, and everything else, but the word Christmas is off-limits. If you accidentally say it, you lose a point. The person with the fewest slip-ups at the end of the day wins!
32. Santa’s Laugh Challenge
Everyone takes turns doing their best Santa laugh. The goal is to make everyone else laugh without laughing yourself! Keep trying different Santa laughs throughout the day and see who has the funniest one.
33. The Elf Voice Challenge
Everyone has to talk in their best elf voice for a set amount of time. Make it extra challenging by choosing a time limit: talk like an elf all morning, until 10 AM, or even the entire time you’re at the grocery store! Anyone who forgets and talks in their normal voice loses the round.
