๐Ÿซง DIY Wubble Bubble Squishy

Ready to make your own DIY squishy toy?

This homemade squishy is soft, stretchy, and incredibly satisfying to squeeze! All you need is a Wubble Bubble toy and a soft homemade filling to create a fun squishy toy kids will love.

You can fill your Wubble Bubble with homemade soft playdough made with cornstarch and conditioner or use slime for a stretchier, gooier texture. Both options make a fun sensory toy without the foamy shaving cream that can lose its air and cause the squishy to go flat.

This is also a great hands-on activity because kids can help make their own squishy before getting to enjoy the best part โ€” squeezing it! It’s a fun sensory activity, babysitting activity, screen-free activity, and boredom buster for kids.

What You’ll Need

  • Wubble Bubble toy
  • Homeade playdough/Slime (I’ll be honest, you’ll need a lot).
  • Spoon or small scoop (honestly we just used our hands and embraced the mess).
  • Bowl or tray for easy cleanup

How to Make a Squishy at Home

1. Prepare your Wubble.
Start with a clean Wubble Bubble toy and make sure it is ready to fill.

2. Add the playdough or slime
Add your filling of choice to the Wubble. Add a little at a time so you don’t overfill it.

3. Seal the opening.
Once you’ve added enough filling, carefully close the opening. We tied ours like a balloon.

4. Start squishing!
Now it’s time for the fun part! Squeeze, stretch, and squish your homemade toy.

The playdough creates a Needoh effect and the slime makes a water textured squishy. This DIY squishy is incredibly satisfying to play with.

๐Ÿงธ More Squishy Activities for Kids

I’ve collected our favorite squishy games and I continue adding to this list as we make them up. These came straight from the minds of an 8 and 10 year old so your kids are bound to LOVE them too!

1. ๐Ÿ‘€ Blindfolded Squishy Guessing Challenge

The kids I nanny are 9 and 10 and they LOVE this game!

Choose a squishy toy and have one player sit or stand with their eyes covered. Place the squishy in their hands and let them squeeze, stretch, and feel it without looking.

Can they figure out which squishy toy they’re holding?

2. Squishy Color Challenge

Gather squishy toys in different colors.

Call out a color and have kids find a squishy that matches as quickly as possible.

For older kids, turn it into a timed challenge and see who can grab the color first. Be careful if you’re watching siblings, it might turn into a fight.

3. Squishy Tournament

Choose several favorite squishy toys and create a silly tournament.

Kids can vote on categories such as:

  • Squishiest
  • Softest
  • Weirdest
  • Most Satisfying
  • Best Shape
  • Best Color

At the end, crown the Ultimate Squishy Champion!

4. Squishy Target Toss

Set up cups, bowls, or baskets and have kids gently toss a soft squishy toy toward the targets.

Give different targets different point values.

Make sure you’re using soft toys and have plenty of space for this game.

5. Squishy Scavenger Hunt

Hide several squishy toys around the house or play area.

Give kids clues to find each one.

You can even make the final prize a new squishy toy!

This is an easy way to turn squishy toys for kids into an active game instead of just a toy to squeeze.

6. Squishy Toss

The little girl I nanny wrote this as her favorite summer game in her time capsule. We’ve kept this one on repeat!

What You Need:

  • 1 squishy toy (a dumpling squishy works great!)
  • 3+ players

How to Play:

  1. Have everyone stand in a circle or spread out in a playing area. You want to make some distance between players for older kids.
  2. One player tosses the squishy to another player.
  3. The player who catches it must throw it to someone else within 3 seconds.
  4. If you miss the catch or don’t throw it within 3 seconds, you’re OUT.
  5. Keep playing until only one player remains.
  6. The last player standing wins the squishy! ๐Ÿ†

The high-stakes prize makes this simple game surprisingly competitive!

๐Ÿซง Squishy Sacrifice

This one is nice and chill. ๐Ÿ™‚

What You Need:

  • 2 players
  • Several squishy toys

How to Play:

  1. Sit across from each other with your squishies in separate piles.
  2. Take turns choosing one of your squishies to sacrifice.
  3. Hold the chosen squishy in your hand. Both players count down 3, 2, 1!
  4. On “1,” both players say a number at the same time.
  5. Quickly add the two numbers together. Whoever says the correct total first wins the other player’s squishy.
  6. Put the won squishy into your pile.
  7. Keep playing until all the squishies have been won.
  8. The player with the most squishies at the end wins! ๐Ÿ†

๐Ÿงธ Squishy Toys Kids Will Love

If you’re building a collection of squishy toys for kids, or looking for a gift kids will freak out over, there are so many fun varieties to try. You could go up to any kid and ask them to tell you what the good ones are…

They’d give you this list:

  1. Needoh (The Cloud Pleaser and Jelly Fish are the most rare right now).
  2. Mystery Dumplings (Can be found at Target, Amazon, Walmart, and 5 Below).
  3. Squeeezy Squishy Toys (Look for the three E’s, kids are pretty serious about their squishy being legit).

๐Ÿ’• Why Kids Love Squishy Toy

There is something incredibly satisfying about squeezing and stretching a soft toy.

Squishy toys can provide:

  • Hands-on sensory play

  • A way to keep little hands busy
  • Creative play opportunities
  • A fun quiet-time activity
  • Entertainment during playdates
  • An easy babysitting activity

And the best part? You don’t always need an elaborate activity.

Sometimes kids just want something fun to squeeze!
