If your kids love squishy toys, they’re going to love making their very own DIY unpoppable squishy toy! This easy project turns a Wubble Bubble toy and either playdough or slime into a soft, squeezable squishy that kids can make and customize at home.
It’s a fun, hands-on activity for kids who are obsessed with all things squishy — and the best part is that this squishy is designed to be unpoppable, so kids can squeeze, stretch, and play with it without worrying about it popping like a traditional balloon.

🫧 DIY Wubble Bubble Squishy
Ready to make your own DIY squishy toy?
This homemade squishy is soft, stretchy, and incredibly satisfying to squeeze! All you need is a Wubble Bubble toy and a soft homemade filling to create a fun squishy toy kids will love.
You can fill your Wubble Bubble with homemade soft playdough made with cornstarch and conditioner or use slime for a stretchier, gooier texture. Both options make a fun sensory toy without the foamy shaving cream that can lose its air and cause the squishy to go flat.
This is also a great hands-on activity because kids can help make their own squishy before getting to enjoy the best part — squeezing it! It’s a fun sensory activity, babysitting activity, screen-free activity, and boredom buster for kids.

What You’ll Need
- 1 Wubble Bubble toy
- 3 28oz. bottles of cheap conditioner (You can find on Amazon or a Dollar Store).
- 32oz. Corn Starch
- Spatula
- A bowl and tray — for easier cleanup

Instructions
1. Prepare your Wubble.
Start with a clean Wubble Bubble toy and make sure it is ready to fill. We blew ours up with air a couple of times to stretch it out and make it nice and stretchy before filling.
2. Make your conditioner and cornstarch mixture.
Squeeze all of your hair conditioner into a large mixing bowl. Add 2 cups of cornstarch and stir until combined. Then, add another 2 cups and stir again. Continue adding the cornstarch 2 cups at a time, stirring well after each addition, until you reach your desired consistency.

For the best squish, aim for a soft, fluffy texture similar to shaving cream, with little mounds and peaks. The mixture should still be soft and easy to stir rather than firm like Play-Doh. You may not need all the cornstarch! Adding too much can make your squishy too stiff and difficult to squeeze.
3. Fill your Wubble.
Carefully spoon your conditioner and cornstarch mixture into the opening of your Wubble Bubble. Add the mixture gradually, working it into the toy until you have the amount of filling you want. Take your time so you don’t make a mess!
4. Seal the opening.
Once you’ve added enough filling, gently push out any excess air and carefully close the opening. We tied ours like a balloon to keep the filling inside. (If your kids are VERY rough you may want to add a small hair elastic and tie it tight around the wubble bubble knot just to be safe).
5. Start squishing!
Now it’s time for the fun part! Squeeze, stretch, and squish your homemade toy. You can even try sitting on it for extra squishy fun!
The conditioner and cornstarch mixture creates a soft, satisfying squish, while other fillings can give your homemade toy a completely different feel. Play dough creates more of a NeeDoh-style effect, while slime gives it a wetter, stretchy texture. This DIY squishy is a fun, hands-on project for anyone who loves sensory toys!

Why Make Your Own Unpoppable Squishy?
If your kids are already obsessed with squishy toys, making one yourself makes the experience even more fun. Instead of just buying another squishy, kids get to make their own and choose what goes inside.
This DIY is especially fun because you can change the texture depending on what you use:
- Playdough creates a soft, moldable texture similar to a Needoh. Just add more cornstarch for a firmer texture.
- Slime creates a softer, squishier texture similar to a Squeeezy Sugar.
- You can experiment with different colors and combinations to make your squishy your own.
And because you’re using a Wubble Bubble toy, you don’t have to worry about it popping while kids squeeze and play with.
It’s an easy DIY that gives kids something they can make, play with, and enjoy long after the craft is finished.
Fun Things to Add to Your DIY Squishy
Once you’ve made your basic squishy, you can have even more fun experimenting with different textures, colors, and decorations. Try adding small amounts of different materials to change how your squishy feels when you squeeze it.
Here are some ideas to try:
- Small plastic beads – Add a handful for extra texture and a fun bumpy feeling.
- Fine glitter – Give your squishy some sparkle.
- Foam beads – Add lightweight texture and a fun pop of color.
- Sequins – Perfect for a sparkly or colorful squishy.
- Confetti – Try colorful shapes or seasonal confetti for a themed squishy.
- Food coloring – If you’re using a light-colored filling, add a few drops to create your favorite color.
- Glow-in-the-dark glitter or decorations – Make a squishy that’s extra fun to play with in the dark.
You can even mix a few ideas together to create your own unique squishy. Try a pink playdough squishy with glitter and beads, or make a colorful slime squishy with foam beads and confetti.
Tip: Use small amounts of add-ins at first. You can always add more, but it’s much harder to take them back out!

🧸 More Squishy Activities for Kids
I’ve collected our favorite squishy games and I continue adding to this list as we make them up. These came straight from the minds of an 8 and 10 year old so your kids are bound to LOVE them too!
1. Blindfolded Squishy Guessing Challenge
The kids I nanny are 8 and 10 and they LOVE this game!
Choose a squishy toy and have one player sit or stand with their eyes covered. Place the squishy in their hands and let them squeeze, stretch, and feel it without looking.
Can they figure out which squishy toy they’re holding?
2. Squishy Color Challenge
Gather squishy toys in different colors.
Call out a color and have kids find a squishy that matches as quickly as possible.
For older kids, turn it into a timed challenge and see who can grab the color first. Be careful if you’re watching siblings, it might turn into a fight.
3. Squishy Tournament
Choose several favorite squishy toys and create a silly tournament.
Kids can vote on categories such as:
- Squishiest
- Softest
- Weirdest
- Most Satisfying
- Best Shape
- Best Color
At the end, crown the Ultimate Squishy Champion!
4. Squishy Target Toss
Set up cups, bowls, or baskets and have kids gently toss a soft squishy toy toward the targets.
Give different targets different point values.
Make sure you’re using soft toys and have plenty of space for this game.
5. Squishy Scavenger Hunt
Hide several squishy toys around the house or play area.
Give kids clues to find each one.
You can even make the final prize a new squishy toy!
This is an easy way to turn squishy toys for kids into an active game instead of just a toy to squeeze.
6. Squishy Toss
The little girl I nanny wrote this as her favorite summer game in her time capsule. We’ve kept this one on repeat!
What You Need:
- 1 squishy toy (a dumpling squishy works great!)
- 3+ players
How to Play:
- Have everyone stand in a circle or spread out in a playing area. You want to make some distance between players for older kids.
- One player tosses the squishy to another player.
- The player who catches it must throw it to someone else within 3 seconds.
- If you miss the catch or don’t throw it within 3 seconds, you’re OUT.
- Keep playing until only one player remains.
- The last player standing wins the squishy! 🏆
The high-stakes prize makes this simple game surprisingly competitive!
7. Squishy Sacrifice
This one is nice and chill. 🙂
What You Need:
- 2 players
- Several squishy toys
How to Play:
- Sit across from each other with your squishies in separate piles.
- Take turns choosing one of your squishies to sacrifice.
- Hold the chosen squishy in your hand. Both players count down 3, 2, 1!
- On “1,” both players say a number at the same time.
- Quickly add the two numbers together. Whoever says the correct total first wins the other player’s squishy.
- Put the won squishy into your pile.
- Keep playing until all the squishies have been won.
- The player with the most squishies at the end wins! 🏆
