50 Indoor Games for Kids

50 Indoor Games for Kids (Fun, Easy & Screen-Free Ideas)

Need a fun way to keep kids entertained indoors? Whether you’re babysitting, homeschooling, planning a classroom activity, or simply trying to survive a rainy afternoon, these 50 indoor games for kids are guaranteed to get everyone laughing, moving, and having fun—without needing a screen.

Most of these games require little to no preparation and use items you probably already have around the house.

1. Simon Says

One player gives commands beginning with “Simon says.” Players should only follow commands that include those words. Anyone who follows a command without hearing “Simon says” is out until the next round.

2. Freeze Dance

Turn on your favorite music and let everyone dance around the room. When the music suddenly stops, everyone must freeze in place. Anyone who moves is out, or simply keep playing for fun.

3. Indoor Scavenger Hunt

Create a list of household items for kids to find around the house. You can make it a race or work together as a team to find everything on the list.

4. Charades

Write different animals, occupations, movies, or actions on slips of paper. Players take turns acting them out without speaking while everyone else guesses.

5. Pictionary

Choose a word or phrase and draw it while others race to guess what it is before time runs out.

6. Balloon Volleyball

Blow up a balloon and use a piece of string or painter’s tape as a net. Players try to keep the balloon from touching the floor while hitting it back and forth.

7. The Floor Is Lava

Scatter pillows, blankets, or couch cushions across the room. Players must jump from one safe spot to another without touching the floor.

8. Hide and Seek

One player counts while everyone else hides. The seeker then searches for all the hidden players.

9. Hot Potato

Pass a small object around the circle while music plays. When the music stops, whoever is holding the object is out or performs a silly challenge.

10. Musical Chairs

Arrange chairs in a circle with one less chair than players. Walk around while music plays, then race to find a seat when it stops.

11. Sock Toss

Roll up clean socks and toss them into laundry baskets placed at different distances. Award more points for baskets farther away.

12. Cup Stack Challenge

Using plastic cups, race to build and knock down a pyramid before the timer runs out.

13. Paper Airplane Contest

Fold paper airplanes and compete to see whose flies the farthest, stays in the air the longest, or lands closest to a target.

14. Animal Walk Race

Pretend to move like different animals such as crabs, bears, frogs, penguins, or kangaroos and race across the room.

15. Indoor Bowling

Use empty plastic bottles or paper towel rolls as bowling pins and roll a soft ball to knock them over.

16. Guess the Sound

Hide behind a chair or table and make different household sounds. Players guess what object made each sound.

17. Telephone

Sit in a circle and whisper a message into the next person’s ear. The last player says the message aloud to see how much it changed.

18. Would You Rather?

Take turns asking funny “Would you rather?” questions and let everyone explain their answers.

19. Memory Tray

Place several household objects on a tray and let everyone study them for one minute. Cover the tray and see who can remember the most items.

20. Dice Challenges

Assign a silly action to each number on a die. Roll the die and complete whatever challenge it lands on.

21. Build a Blanket Fort

Gather blankets, pillows, chairs, and couch cushions to create the ultimate indoor fort. Once it’s built, read books, tell stories, or enjoy a snack inside.

22. Treasure Hunt

One player stands at the end of the room calling out “Green Light!” for everyone to move and “Red Light!” for everyone to freeze. Anyone caught moving goes back to the starting line.

26. Hop Across Pillows
